It is the responsibility of all krewe members to inform the Individual Parade Chairs, that you/they have someone who wants to be a Marshall.  Give the chair the names at least a week prior to the parade.

  1. Parade Chair is in charge of all Marshals for that parade.
  2. First Time Marshal's shall be given the chance to marshal over anyone who has already been a marshal in any past parades.
  3. Parade Marshal's must be 21 years of age or older and in good health. They must be able to walk the duration of the parade.
  4. No one will be a Marshal in a parade without clearing it with the Parade Chair. No exceptions will be made for any reason if the Marshal is not cleared through the right channels.
  5. Krewe members are allowed two friends to marshal per parade.
  6. A Release of Liability must be signed and returned to the Parade Chair prior to participating. (No Exceptions) Release of Liability form found on our krewe website.
  7. A Krewe member that has received prior authorization to be a Marshal himself or herself will be required to follow the same rules that would apply to all regular Marshal´s.
  8. Marshals should not be able to marshal a parade more than twice unless approved by Parade Chairs and board of directors.
  9. Any violation of the parade Marshal's rules and regulations will result in immediate dismissal.

We want to give prospective members an opportunity to get to know the group by marshalling.  If any one has not been signed up in advance, they will be advised to sit that parade out.

Marshall's can be a big help.  We must know who they are, and they must understand that they are there to assist and protect Krewe members as well as the Public, as needed.

The Executive Board

Rules and Regulations for Parade Marshall's

  1. All parade Marshal's must wear the designated identification given to them (i.e. T-shirts). This includes krewe members who wish to marshal. No jackets, hats or other items are to be worn over the marshal shirt. In the event of rain, a clear plastic poncho may be worn over the marshal shirt. Beads are acceptable as long as they are not obsurring the KOH Marshal writing on the t-shirt. If it is a cold day, a long shirt can be worn under the marshal shirt.
  2. Parade Marshal's will immediately report any problems or concerns to the Parade Chairs. If the Parade Chairs is not available, please contact the parade chairperson or a current officer of the krewe for assistance.
  3. Marshals are NEVER to use physical force on krewe members unless the krewe members safety is at risk.
  4. No Parade Marshal will drink alcoholic beverages during the parade. (No Exceptions) If you show up to the staging area drunk or incapacitated in any way, you will not be allowed to marshal.
  5. No Parade Marshal will throw beads, or any other paraphernalia, during the parades. (No Exceptions)
  6. Parade Marshal's will be courteous and respectful to the public and Krewe members at all times.
  7. Parade Marshal's will assist in keeping the safeguard of the public and Krewe Members at all times.
  8. Parade Marshal's will assist the float driver in assuring the safe operation of the float.
  9. Parade Marshal's will refrain from doing anything that would bring embarrassment or negative attention to the Krewe or its Members.
  10. Parade Marshal's will immediately report any problems or concerns to the Parade Chairs.

These rules will be strictly enforced.  If the rules can not be followed, we will ban all Marshall's and Krewe members will have to fill in as Marshall's and forfeit that parade in costume and will be instructed to follow all instructions listed above.
