GENERAL MEETING - WEDNESDAY, March 12TH, 2008
NEW MEETING LOCATION!

There is a Krewe General Meeting tonight at Rick's on the River, at 7:00 PM.  We will be discussing the upcoming parades, other events, and important Krewe items.  We hope you will be there!
Our Floats
The new float location has worked out nicely.  They have positioned some tractor trailers next to and between our floats to protect them from weather.  We think it will be good for the floats.  We have a plan to put a cover over the area.  Charlie Macheski is donating tarps to go over the top area, so we can make a nice area and do it inexpensively.  We now need to build a frame to mount onto the area for a support, but we will be addressing that soon.  Larry Cothron has been very accommodating, and we have easy access to our floats.  They just did a float repair on the Castle brakes, and it was very convenient and reasonable for the Krewe.  Thanks to Larry!

Please keep the area picked up around the Floast!

Bits and Pieces...

The Sant Yago Parade went well.  I apologize for missing it, but I put myself on IR due to a a bruised foot.  I now have more sympathy for Vinny Testaverde and his turf toe problems.  To the various people who worked to get ready parade:
  • Chairs were Leo Kelly, Allison Huesca and Joel Sousa. There was a lot of preliminary running around, meetings and coordination. Thanks!
  • To those who made the day of the parade fit into place:

The 2008 Springtime Tallahassee and Chasco Fiesta Parades
Both the Springtime Tallahassee parade and Chasco Fiesta parade fall on the same date in 2008.  We have budgeted to do both parades.

We have a hotel room block at the Cabot Lodge, but you MUST contact Robin McClain if you wish to book a room.  New management has asked for one contact to fax in reservations and Robin is in charge of our rooms.  You can contact Robin McClain.

Some of the HARC folks may be joining us at Chasco.

The Florida Aquarium "Seagrapes"

Please mark May 3rd on your calender.  The Florida Aquarium is holding their Seagrapes event, and we have Leo Kelly and Jane Young on the steering committee.  This will be another well done event with high visibility for the Krewe, and they are requesting 6 people to help with the day.  It starts at 6 PM.  Please advise Leo Kelly or Jane Young if you can participate, either in costume passing out beads, or in another capacity setting up.

Message from the President

HARC is having a Grand Opening of their new facility @ Habana and Kirby, by Egypt Lake, on March 13th.  The Krewe Members are invited to attend, and they would love if you would come in costume with some beads that day.  Time TBA.  Richard and Steve Roberto look forward to seeing us there.  It will be a nice event.  Please advise Jon and Vicki Montney if you plan to be there.

We have a prospective new Krewe Member, as Heather Tickel had her baby about a month early on Jan. 25th.  The new boy is Robert "Robbie" Harris Tickel, weighing in at 6 lbs, 3.5 ounces, and 20.5 inches long.  She sent word she plans to be there for St. Patrick's Day with husband Robert as a Marshal.

Chasco and Springtime Tallahassee and the Bradenton Parade plans are all being finalized. There are some Krewe float sharing opportunities, and we will have that worked out soon.  We will discuss parade dress at the General Meeting, and please be advised that full costume is required at parades unless otherwise advised.  Apparently there were a few did not adhere to that at the last parade. (An exception is Key West, but that parade is different in many ways!)

I have been advised that we have at least 4 new members joining as a result of Marshals from the past few parades having a good time and wanting to now join.  Thanks for making the Marshals feel part of the day!.
