About

The name Hillsborough has been transplanted from England to other parts of the world. In North Carolina, the town of Hillsborough took its name in 1776 after Wills Hill, Earl of Hillsborough and the British Secretary of State for America. Hillsborough County, Florida was the center of the 14th British Colony, which in honor of the British Secretary, named its main waterway the Hillsborough River. The name was also given to the County and part of Tampa Bay. We, of the Krewe of Hillsborough, seek to honor the namesake of our County by perpetuating his name and reminding all that seek membership in our Krewe of the rich history we all share.
